Have you started your Christmas Menu yet? Herb roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, steamed beans, rice with walnuts and cranberries and cozy mulled wine, of course. How about something purple and sexy to add to your dinner table? Here is the perfect red cabbage salad with turmeric mustard sauce.
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 red cabbage, around 900g, quartered, cored and shredded
- 1 onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 bay leaves
For Mustard-Turmeric Sauce
- ½ tbsp turmeric powder
- 75 ml white wine vingear
- 1 tsp ginger powder
- 2 tsp honey
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- Heat the oil in a large saucepan over a medium heat. Add the cabbage, onion, garlic and bay leaves, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 15 mins until the cabbage begins to wilt.
- For the sauce add all ingredients in a mixing bowl and combine.
- Add the sauce into the pan. Cover the pan and cook gently for 1 hr until the cabbage is tender and wonderfully sticky and caramelized. Remove the bay leaves before eating.
